Gugulethu Mbatha (better known as Gugu-Mbatha-Raw) is a British actress and film star known for her role in the film industry after she appeared in a episode of Doctor Who, which is a British sci-fi TV show, airing on the BBC. Gugu achieved a lot of recognition for her role as Tish Jones, the daughter of a major character called Martha Jones, in the show. Handler's professional career started as part of an all-female Oxygen television show in the comedy show with hidden cameras Girls Behaving Inexplicably. The show ran on air from 2002 through 2005. The actress was a part of other shows, such as Weekends at D.L., The Bernie Mac Show, The Practice and My Wife and Kids. Handler began working for The Tonight Show as a reporter. Her breakthrough came in 2006 when she began hosting her show on E! named The Chelsea Handler Show. The Chelsea Show lasted for 2 seasons. Handler then performed in America in the Comedy Central Hour Stand-Up Comedy Tour. VH1, Comedy Central Premium Blend, HBO and Comedy Central have all broadcasted her stand-up performances. In 2010, she announced that she would host this year's MTV Video Music Awards. The only female host of the VMAs in the same way as Roseanne Bar.
